Design conundrum….how best to represent recent period styles in film. My gut is to have a light touch but then you come across blockbuster material where the set looks like an installation of every period prop and style ever. Lookin at you super 8. Does this really set the audience in time or just hit the nostalgia buttons. Films made in the period look nothing like this or do they? Answers on a postcard please.
